Usagi Yojimbo

This is a process blog  for my Space Usagi for the Stan Sakai CAPS benefit auction. The Stan Sakai benefit auction is to help Stan and his wife Sharon. Sharon’s illness requires 24-hour care and medicines that cost more than their insurance covers. I will post again when the action is live. You can also help in various ways here:

su dark copy
The final inked and toned piece. Done on 9×12 Bristol, inked 95% with a Japanese brush pen, the rest with microns. Gray tones done with Copic markers warm and cool grey sets. I didn’t want to use any white out, but I couldn’t help myself and used a little Pelican Graphic White with a brush. It was used mainly on the large black area on his left wrist. I was careful to plan it so those areas would not need shading as the Copics would not work properly over the white.
